ABOUT Instant Dhokla RECIPE

Traditionally a Gujarati snack made from chickpea flour

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 1 cup Semolina
  2. 1/2 cup chickpea flour
  3. 1/2 cup curd
  4. Salt to taste
  5. 1 tbs sugar
  6. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  7. 1 sachet eno
  8. 2 tbs oil
  9. 10- 12 curry leaves
  10. 1 tbs mustard seeds
  11. 1/2 tbs coriander seeds

Instructions

  1. Mix together the semolina, chickpea flour, curd, salt, turmeric and make a batter of cake consistency by adding sufficient amount of water.
  2. Add the Eno sachet and mix well.
  3. Pour in a greased square tin and steam for about 20 minutes.
  4. In a pan heat oil and add mustard seeds and coriander seeds. When they splutter add the curry leaves.
  5. Add 1 cup of water and sugar and bring to a boil.
  6. Demould the dhoklas and cut into square shapes. Pour the boiled water on the dhoklas and serve.
