ABOUT Ribbon Pakoda RECIPE

Ribbon Pakoda is a traditional south indian Diwali snack recipe. Traditionally ribbon pakoda is made with the murruku maker but in Canada I did not find it so I have made it by rolling the dough with the help of a rolling pin.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. 1 cup, Rice Flour
  2. ½ cup, Besan
  3. 1 tsp, Red Chili Powder
  4. ½ tsp, salt
  5. 1 ½ tbsp, ghee
  6. 1 tbsp, sesame seeds
  7. Oil, to deep fry

Instructions

  1. Take a large mixing bowl, add rice flour. Besan, red chili powder, salt, ghee and sesame seeds. Mix well.
  2. Sprinkle some water little by little and mix it into a soft but firm dough. Cover it and sit it aside for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a kadhai. Take a handful of the mixture and make a ball. Press and roll it like a thin chapatti with the help of a rolling pin.
  4. Poke it with the help of a fork or knife
  5. Now cut it into thin stripes and deep fry them until golden brown in colour.
  6. Drain it on an absorbent paper. Repeat this process for the remaining mixture.
  7. Serve with tea, chutney or pickle.
