ABOUT Japanese Rice congee RECIPE

This Japanese dish is wholesome and filling, also very easy to prepare.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 80 grams raw sushi rice
  2. 500 ml chicken stock
  3. Half a piece of carrot, finely sliced
  4. 1/2 inch piece of ginger, grated
  5. 2-3 strands of spring onion leaves, finely chopped to garnish
  6. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak the rice for a while before cooking.
  2. Take a pan, pour in the stock along with the rice and ginger. Bring this mixture to a boil then lower the flame.
  3. Put in the carrot pieces along with salt to taste. Cover with a lid and let it simmer and cook for 20- 25 minutes.
  4. After this time, remove the ginger pieces and pour this congee into a serving bowl and stir it well.
  5. Serve hot with a garnish of finely chopped spring onion leaves.
