ABOUT Besan Bora Posto RECIPE

Posto is an authentic Bengali dish. Posto is a very good accompaniment with dal and rice. Posto is a part of Bengali vegetarian thali when it is cooked without onion. I am sharing the recipe of Besan bora posto / Gram flour Dumplings cooked in poppy seeds paste. This is a very simple dish and it can save you when you do not have any veggies in your pantry.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Besan / Gram Flour Dumpling - 1 cup
  2. Cooking Soda - 1/4 teaspoon
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Onion - 1 big, sliced
  5. Poppy Seed Paste - 1 cup
  6. Mustard oil - 1/2 cup
  7. Green Chilli - 2
  8. Water as required

Instructions

  1. Take gram flour in a bowl and add cooking soda & salt into it.
  2. Mix well the dry mixture and add water to make a smooth batter.
  3. Heat oil (1/4 cup) in a wok and put spoonful of batter in the oil to prepare dumpling.
  4. Similarly fry the dumpling with the remaining batter.
  5. Cook both the side of the dumplings until they are golden.
  6. Once the dumplings are golden take them out and keep aside.
  7. Now heat the remaining oil and fry the onions till they are translucent.
  8. Next add the poppy seed paste and stir it for few minutes.
  9. Add salt to taste and green chilli into it.
  10. Finally add 1 cup of water and allow it to cook for sometime covering with a lid.
  11. Once the water gets dried switch off the gas and serve with white rice.
