ABOUT Chum Chum RECIPE

A twist to our very favourite chom chom...we use sooji instead of chena & mava

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 200ml plain milk
  2. 100 gms of roasted fine semolina/sooji
  3. 100 gms of sugar
  4. Oil for Deep frying
  5. 2 tbspn All purpose flour/Maida
  6. Water as required
  7. 2 tbspn of milk powder for coating

Instructions

  1. BOIL 200 ML OF MILK ADD 1 TBSP SUGAR
  2. ADD 100 GMS SEMOLINA, KEEP STIRRING ON SLOW HEAT
  3. AS THE MIXTURE THICKENS, ADD 4 TBSP FLOUR
  4. ADD 2 TBSP GHEE. STIR AND REMOVE FROM HEAT. KEEP IT ASIDE TO COOL
  5. BRING 100 GMS SUGAR AND 150 ML WATER TO A BOIL & TAKE OFF HEAT
  6. KNEAD A DOUGH OUT OF THE WARM SEMOLINA MIX
  7. SHAPE INTO CHUM CHUMS WITH GREASED PALMS
  8. DEEP FRY IN HOT OIL ON SLOW HEAT FOR 15-20 MINS
  9. ONCE FRIED DEEP BROWN, TRANSFER IT INTO THE WARM SUGAR SYRUP, COVER & SET ASIDE FOR 2-3 HOURS
  10. COAT THEM WITH MILK POWDER & SERVE
