Lauki Muthiya

Ingredients to make Lauki Muthiya

  • 4 cups of lauki, finely grated
  • 1/3 cup wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup besan
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon white sesame seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • 1 teaspoon green chilli paste
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 2 tablespoon curd
  • ½ lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • oil as required to deep fry
  • salt to taste

How to make Lauki Muthiya

  1. Put the grated lauki in a bowl, add in salt and mix well. Keep it aside for a while, then squeeze the excess water from this mixture.
  2. Next put in the ginger paste, white sesame seeds, green chilli paste, cumin seeds, asafoetida, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and lemon juice into this bowl. Stir well and mix with your hands.
  3. Then put in the besan and wheat flour in together, and pour in the yogurt and mix it all together. Add salt as per taste and make small portions of this mixture in square shapes.
  4. Heat oil in a kadhai/pan and deep fry these muthiyas till they are crisp and golden brown in colour. Drain the excess oil on paper towels.
  5. Serve hot as a snack.
