Ingredients to make The Saira-Sister Coster Chocolate Cake

  • 1 and 3/4 cup maida
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 4 and 1/2 tablespoon cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 100 grams butter
  • 2 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 cup of icing sugar cocoa and water mixed
  • 7 or 8 inch baking tin

How to make The Saira-Sister Coster Chocolate Cake

  1. Preheat oven setting at a mid-level temperature
  2. In bowl 1 - sieve the maida, baking powder, cocoa and soda
  3. In bowl 2 - mix the sugar, milk and butter
  4. Spoon by spoon, fold the ingredients of bowl 2 into bowl 1
  5. Using the spoon, whip the mixture by hand for approx 5 minutes, till it's nice and smooth
  6. Add the vinegar, and continue whipping for another 2 minutes, till it feels like velvet
  7. And voila, the mix is ready to fold into the baking tin
  8. Spread a bit of butter around the tin and spoon the mix into the tin
  9. Bake for 50 minutes
  10. For the icing - combine icing sugar, cocoa and water into 1 cup, pour it into a saucepan and simmer over a low fire for 5 minutes
  11. Spread over the cake and enjoy
