Have Peels and cores left over after making desserts/sauces ?? Or when kids do not eat apple with peels????? Apple peels contain high nutrition and throwing it away is a waste so lets utilize the apple peels and core by making some yummy homemade jams.. So delicious that you will never buy store-made apple jams again

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. Apple peels and core 1 cup
  2. Water 1 1/2 cup
  3. Sugar 3/4 cup
  4. Lemon juice 1/2 tablespoon
  5. Cinnamon(optional) 1/2 teaspoon
  6. Nutmeg(optional) 1/4 teaspoon
  7. Red food color (optional)

Instructions

  1. Add 1 cup peel/core to a pan, add water and boil it until the cores and peels become soft. Note the cores before using should be chopped to smaller chunks
  2. Mash it and strain it. Now boil this strained Liquid with sugar on low to medium flame. Sugar can be added or reduced as per the taste
  3. Add Lemon juice, this should not be skipped. Now bring this to boil... Do not allow the liquid to boil over. Keep cooking and it will become syrupy.
  4. To know if its done, take a separate bowl fill it with ice cubes, take a spoon of the liquid and keep the spoon over the ice cubes, the liquid will cool, turn the spoon sideways,it will not be like a syrup. it would have jelled onto spoon
  5. If the jam is still syrupy on the spoon , then cook until it is not syrupy when placed over icecubes. In a separate bowl start boiling some water
  6. The Jam jar should be warmed and sterilized up before its used for storing. Pour the hot jam from the stove in the warm jar. do not fill it to the rim, leave some space and do not leave too much space as it will capture air. Seal it tightly
  7. Place the jam in boiling water for 10 minutes and then allow it to cool for 10-12 hours before use. Refrigerate it and you can use it for 3 months.Yummy Homemade Apple Jam is ready
