ABOUT KHEEL UPMA RECIPE

Kheel upma is a healthy and delicious recipe of the kheel used for worshipping on Diwali. Which is rarely used in homes otherwise.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Kheel 3 glasses
  2. Oil 2 tablespoon
  3. Mustard seed 1/2 teaspoon
  4. Whole red chilli 2
  5. Curry leaves 1 sprig
  6. Onions 2
  7. Peas 2 tablespoon
  8. Carrot chopped 2 tablespoon
  9. Potato boiled 1
  10. Capsicum chopped 2 tablespoon
  11. Salt 2/3 teaspoon
  12. Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon
  13. Garam masala 1/4 teaspoon
  14. Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  15. Green coriander leaves 2 tablespoon
  16. Masala peanuts 2 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Wash kheel in a large pot.
  2. Drain the kheel.
  3. Drain the kheel.
  4. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
  5. Heat oil in a wok. Splutter mustard seed.
  6. Add whole red chilli and curry leaves.
  7. Add chopped onion and roast lightly.
  8. Add boiled peas, blanched carrot, diced potato and chopped capsicum.
  9. Cook for a minute.
  10. Add salt, red chilli powder and garam masala.
  11. Add turmeric powder and green coriander leaves.cook for a while.
  12. Add milk.
  13. Add soaked kheel.
  14. Toss well.
  15. Cook covered for 2 minutes on sim.
  16. Garnish with masala peanuts.
  17. Kheel upma is ready.
