ABOUT Savory Semolina Loaf RECIPE

A spicy flavorful soft savory loaf loaded with capsicum, onion and tomatoes. Delicious filling loaf that can be served as snack. A must try for all who love savory bakes.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Semolina /sooji 2 cups
  2. Yogurt 1 cup
  3. Water 1.5 cups
  4. Capsicum (sliced) 1/2 cup
  5. Onions (roundels) 1 cup
  6. Tomatoes (roundels) 1 cup
  7. Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
  8. Salt 1.5 teaspoon
  9. Dried oregano 2 teaspoon
  10. Baking powder 1/2 teaspoon
  11. Baking soda 1/4 teaspoon
  12. Oil ( for greasing) 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Add yogurt and water to semolina and mix well. Rest for 30 minutes.
  2. Add red chilli powder, salt and 1 teaspoon oregano. Mix well.
  3. Preheat oven at 180 degree centigrade
  4. Add baking powder and baking soda to mixture. Gently mix in one direction only.
  5. Grease a baking pan.
  6. Add half of mixture to pan. Add half of sliced capsicum, onions and tomatoes
  7. Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon oregano.
  8. Add remaining mixture over it.
  9. Top up with sliced capsicum, onions and tomatoes.
  10. Bake for 35-40 minutes
  11. After baking, take it out and transfer the loaf to the plate. Sprinkle remaining oregano.
  12. Cut in slices and serve.
