Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Valencia Oranges 4
  2. Wholewheat flour 1/2 cup
  3. Cocoa powder 1/4 cup
  4. Baking powder 1/2 teaspoon
  5. Baking soda 1/8 teaspoon
  6. Salt 1/4 teaspoon
  7. Egg 1
  8. Vanilla essence 1 teaspoon
  9. Sugar 1/2 cup
  10. Vegetable oil 1/4 cup
  11. Milk 2 tablespoon
  12. Orange juice 2 tablespoon
  13. For garnish:
  14. Chocolate shavings 2 tablespoon
  15. Almond slices 2 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Sieve the dry ingredients, that is, wholewheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together, 3-4 times. Keep this aside.
  2. Now take an orange and cut the head (one end). Using a knife, scoop out the pulp from inside. You may use a spoon too.
  3. Similarly prepare the orange peel cups from rest of the three oranges.
  4. Wrap aluminium foil around the prepared orange peel cups, to avoid burning while baking.
  5. Now in a bowl, break an egg and beat until light and creamy.
  6. Then add sugar, vanilla essence, orange juice and oil and beat again well.
  7. Now add the dry ingredients slowly, in parts, to the wet mixture.
  8. Add milk in between.
  9. Whisk until well combined.
  10. Preheat the oven to 180 degree centigrade.
  11. Scoop out the batter and transfer to the prepared orange peel cups.
  12. Fill only little more than half, two thirds of the cup, may be. Otherwise while baking, the batter will overflow.
  13. Bake for 30 minutes.
  14. Allow to cool down a bit.
  15. Garnish with chocolate shavings and almond slices.
