Simla mirch ki sabji (green capsicum)

Ingredients to make Simla mirch ki sabji (green capsicum)

  • 500 gm green capsicum (4 big)
  • Salt as required
  • A pinch of turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp coriander powder (dhania powder)
  • 1/2 cup fresh coconut grated (dry or readymade one will also do)
  • 2 tbsp green chilli paste
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 3 tbsp gram flour
  • 4 tbsp groundnuts, coarsely grinded (optional)
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional)

How to make Simla mirch ki sabji (green capsicum)

  1. Heat oil in kadai. Then add in the mustard seeds and let it splutter.
  2. Next, add gram flour and roast till it smells and changes its color. (Note that it doesn't burn as this is tends to happen.)
  3. Add in the garlic paste and mix it well. Then add the green chilli paste.
  4. Next, add the chopped capsicum, roasted coarsely grinded groundnuts. Mix it well.
  5. Next, add the fresh or dry/ ready made coconut powder, add this in and saute it well.
  6. Then add dhania powder, turmeric powder. Mix well and cover with a lid.
  7. In between this time, keep mixing on a medium flame till the capsicum softens and becomes limp. When its cooked, the oil will start to separate.
  8. Lastly add salt as required to retain its greenness. Then add sugar (optional) and mix it well.
  9. Garnish with grated fresh coconut and serve!
