ABOUT Raw Banana fritters RECIPE

Banana is one of the major and economically important fruit crop of Asian countries. Different types are banans are cultivated and eaten in most of the locations. Apart from being consumed as a fresh fruit, banana leaves used worldwide as a cooking material, plates and for other commercial usage. Stem and flower is being used in many recipes. It is high in fiber, Potassium, B6 Vitamin. It helps in preventing Kidney cancer, Ulcer and very good for eyes, bones, heart. This recipe is very easy to prepare and taste amazing. It is being prepared in many households as a side dish. Bananas are available throughout year and consumed every day in the form of pakora, bhaji, kachori, curry, cakes, jams or as a whole.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Raw Banana – 3
  2. Gram Flour / Besan – 1 cup
  3. Rice flour – 1tablespoon
  4. Red chilli powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  5. Garam masala – 1teaspoon
  6. Minced onion – 2 tablespoon (Optional)
  7. Asafoetida – A pinch
  8. Finely chopped coriander – 2 tablespoon
  9. Oil for Frying
  10. Salt to taste.
  11. Water to make thick batter

Instructions

  1. Wash, pat dry, peel and slice raw bananas lengthwise into ½” thickness. Put them in salt water to avoid discoloring.
  2. Rub salt, garam masala, red chili powder. Keep aside for 15-20 minutes for marination.
  3. In a bowl, take gram flour and rice flour. Add minced onion, Asafoetida, salt and finely chopped coriander. Mix well.
  4. Add water slowly at a time and make thick batter.
  5. Heat oil in a pan or wok.
  6. Dip raw banana slices into batter, coat properly from all the sides and fry on medium low flame till golden and crisp.
  7. Serve hot with dal rice or any dip or chutney.
