Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Butter and flour for coating and dusting the cake pan
  2. All-purpose flour. 3 cups
  3. Granulated sugar. 3 cups
  4. Unsweetened cocoa powder. 1 1/2 cup
  5. Baking soda 1 teaspoon
  6. Baking powder 1 1/2 teaspoon
  7. Salt 1 1/2
  8. Eggs 4 large
  9. Buttermilk 1 1/2 cups
  10. Warm water 1 1/2 cups
  11. Vegetable oil 1/2 cup
  12. Vanilla extract 2 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Butter three 9-inch cake rounds. Dust with flour and tap out the excess.
  3. Mix together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a stand mixer using a low speed until combined
  4. Add eggs, buttermilk, warm water, oil, and vanilla.
  5. Beat on a medium speed until smooth.
  6. Divide batter among the three pans.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes until stick a toothpick in and it comes out clean.
  8. Cool on wire racks for 15 minutes and then turn out the cakes onto the racks and allow to cool completely.
  9. Frost with your favorite frosting and enjoy
