Ingredients to make Lasagna

  • 300g Lasagne sheets
  • 500g Minced Beef/mutton
  • 4 tbsp Red wine
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 400g Tomato chopped
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 100g Cheddar/Mozzarella Cheese (grated)
  • 2 tbs Tomato Ketchup
  • 3 tbs Cornflour
  • 2 tsp Oregano
  • 2 Bay Leaves
  • 1 tsp Nutmeg (grated)
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

How to make Lasagna

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  2. Heat the oil in large pan. Add the onions, fry until tender. Then add garlic, cook for another couple minutes and then tip this into a bowl.
  3. Add the beef/mutton and cook until browned. Add the wine, ketchup, tomatoes, oregano and a bay leaf. Simmer for 30 mins.
  4. In a saucepan, add 3 tbsp of milk, bay leaf and the onion-garlic.Bring to the boil, then remove from heat and leave it for 15 mins.
  5. Strain the onion and bay leaf. Mix the cornflour and whisk into the infused milk over a medium heat.
  6. Add the Cheddar/ mozzarella and season well. Then add nutmeg and cook for 2 mins.
  7. Spoon a thin layer of meat sauce into the dish, then a little cheese sauce. Put a layer of lasagne on top.
  8. Now add more meat and cheese sauces, for another couple of layers. Finish with lasagne, then with cheese sauce.
  9. Sprinkle with Parmesan. Bake for 45-60 min
