Ingredients to make Black eyed bean salad

  • 1 cup of Black eyed peas (Chawli)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 small tomato, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1/2 tsp of chaat masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp of coriander leaves, chopped

How to make Black eyed bean salad

  1. Soak the black eyed peas in double the amount of water for about 4-5 hours.
  2. Pressure cook for 4 whistles until cooked.
  3. After it has cooled down, put the peas in a mixing bowl and add the onion, tomato to it.
  4. Now add the lime juice, Chaat masala and salt to taste.
  5. Check the seasoning
  6. Sprinkle coriander leaves on it before serving.
  7. If you like a bit of spice, you can also add some chopped green chilli to the salad.
My Tip: Soak the peas overnight for best results. I cooked it in the morning before I leave for work.
