Tikkis are an all time favourite appetizer or a tea-time snack. So how about some stuffed Tikkis made out of raw jackfruit and stuffed with boiled egg?

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 small jackfruit, boiled & mashed
  2. 1 large potato, boiled & mashed
  3. salt to taste
  4. 1 tbsp. oil
  5. 1/2 tsp. cumin seeds
  6. pinch of asafoetida
  7. 1 tsp. ginger-garlic paste
  8. 1-2 tbsp. raw mango paste
  9. 1 tsp. roasted coriander-cumin powder
  10. 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
  11. 1 tsp. red chili flakes
  12. 1 tsp. red chili powder
  13. 1 tsp. kasuri methi
  14. 2 boiled eggs, sliced
  15. oil to shallow fry

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper powder on the sliced eggs and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan and temper with cumin seeds. Saute for a few seconds. Then add the asafoetida, ginger-garlic paste and raw mango paste. Saute till dry.
  2. Add the turmeric powder, salt and coriander-cumin powder. Saute for a few seconds and add the chili flakes, followed by the boiled jackfruit, potato and kasuri methi.
  3. Mix everything well and keep frying on a medium flame. When almost done, add the red chili powder and mix well. When the moisture has dried up, take off the flame and set aside to cool.
  4. Divide the dough into equal portions. Take each portion and place a sliced egg in the centre and carefully cover and give it a round flat shape.
  5. Make similar stuffed tikkis with the remaining dough and refrigerate for an hour. Heat 1 tbsp. of oil in a tawa / griddle and shallow fry them in batches till light brown in colour.
  6. Drain on a tissue paper and serve them hot with chutney or sauce.
