Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1/4 cup vodka (I used Absolut)
  2. 2 tablespoons spiced ginger syrup
  3. 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  4. Sparkling water or soda
  5. mint sprig for garnish
  6. 1/2 cup Sugar
  7. 1/2 cup boiling water
  8. 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
  9. 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  10. 2 green cardamom pods
  11. A pinch of saffron threads
  12. 1/3 cup chopped fresh ginger root

Instructions

  1. Start by slowly roasting the seeds and saffron for 30 secs, till they pop. Meanwhile, in a saucepan, stir together the sugar with the boiling water until dissolved.
  2. Add the syrup, toasted spices and ginger to a blender and blend until fairly smooth and strain the syrup through a very fine mesh strainer, pressing on the solids to extract the juice well.
  3. Chill the syrup for at least 1 hour.
  4. When ready to serve, shake the vodka, ginger syrup and lemon juice In a shaker for about 30-40 seconds.
  5. Fill a glass with ice and strain the drink into the glass. Top off with sparkling water or soda, give a squeeze of lemon and top with a mint sprig.
