ABOUT Moong urad dal pakode RECIPE

Generally pakodas are made from split or skinned urad dal. They are also made from split or skinned moong dal. Both of the pakodas made either with urad dal or moong dal tastes good. Even when you mix both these dals, then too the vadas turns out awesome.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1 /2 cup urad dal
  2. 1 /2 cup moong dal
  3. 1 /2 inch piece of ginger
  4. 1 green chilli
  5. 1 tbsp fresh coconut
  6. 1 tbsp chopped kaju
  7. 1 tsp kishmish
  8. 1 /4 tsp crushed peppercorns
  9. 1 tsp curry leaves
  10. 1 tsp Finely chopped Coriander leaves
  11. 1 pinch hing
  12. 1 tbsp semolina or as required
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Water as required

Instructions

  1. 1. Soak the lentis overnight or for 6 hours.
  2. 2. Drain and the gring, ginger, chilli, and hing.
  3. 3. Very little water while grinding.
  4. 4. The batter should be thick, smooth and fluffy.
  5. 5. Add 1 tbsp semolina and black pepper to the batter.
  6. 6. Add salt, cumin seeds, crussed peppercorns, kaju, kishmish, fresh coconut, curry leaves and corriender leaves to the batter.
  7. 7. Heat oil and drop spoonfulls of the batter in the oil.
  8. 8. Deep fry the vadas till golden brown and crisp.
  9. 9. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain the moong urad dal vadas on paper tissues to remove excess oil.
  10. 10. Serve moong urad dal pakodas hot with imli khajoor khatti meethi chutney.
