ABOUT Ellu Suzhiyam / Sweet Sesame Vada RECIPE

It is my own recipe. I had an idea to make sweet and crispy vada for Pooja. The pooran is made with sesame, Groundnuts, cashew and grated coconut as base. It is very tasty and kids recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For Batter- Urad dal 1 cup
  2. Pinch of salt
  3. For Pooran Jaggery 2 tbsp
  4. Crushed groundnuts 1 tbsp
  5. Crushed Cashews 1 tbsp
  6. 2 tbsp White sesame seeds
  7. 1/2 cup grated Coconut
  8. ghee for frying
  9. cardamon powder 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Soak Urad dal for 30 minutes
  2. Add pinch of salt and little water and grind it to a fluffy batter
  3. Add 2 tbsp jaggery and little water. Prepare Jaggery syrup
  4. Heat Ghee. Saute crushed Groundnuts and cashews
  5. Add 1 tbsp White sesame seeds. Saute
  6. Add grated coconut and cardamon powder
  7. Add Jaggery syrup and saute for 5 minutes to make Pooran. Cool the mixture
  8. Make Pooran balls. Pooran should be thick and sturdy. If it is loose squeeze balls to remove excess syrup.
  9. Use 2 spoons. Hold Pooran with one spoon. Take batter with another spoon. Pour the batter on pooran and coat the batter. Care should be taken to coat Pooran completely with batter. If not sesame may crack while deep fry.
  10. Deep fry them on low flame
  11. Sweet Sesame Vadas are ready to serve
