Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 2 large boneless chicken breasts
  2. 3 tbsp olive oil
  3. ½ cup of all-purpose flour/ plain flour (Maida)
  4. ½ cup of soy sauce
  5. 3 tsp of honey (adjust according to taste)
  6. 2 cloves of garlic, peeled and minced
  7. 1 tsp peeled and grated ginger
  8. 1 tsp Cornflour (optional)
  9. ½ tsp of pepper powder
  10. Salt to taste
  11. 1 tsp of sesame seeds
  12. A dash of sesame oil (optional)
  13. Spring onion greens to garnish

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken breasts into thin strips.
  2. In a bowl, put your plain flour, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Throw in the chicken pieces and toss well until the chicken is completely coated with the dry flour mixture. Do not add water or any other liquid ingredient! We just want a dry flour coating on the chicken pieces.
  4. Heat 3 tbsn olive oil in a frying pan, on medium heat.
  5. Pick each piece of coated chicken and add to the oil one by one, for frying together. Shallow-fry the batch until the pieces are cooked and golden brown from both sides, turning them in between as needed.
  6. Set them aside in a plate lined with a kitchen towel to soak up the excess oil. Discard the left-over dry flour mixture.
  7. In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients for your sauce- Soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic and cornflour. Whisk everything together until well combined.
  8. Take the same pan and heat the same leftover oil in which you fried your chicken, on low heat.
  9. Pour your sauce in the pan and simmer for around half a minute. Adjust the salt or sugar quantity according to your preference.
  10. Throw the chicken pieces in the simmering sauce and toss them for about 3-4 minutes, until the sauce thickens and the chicken is nicely coated with it.
  11. Plate the dish and pour the remaining thick sauce all over the chicken as well. Do not let even one drop of that glorious sauce go to waste!
  12. Lastly, sprinkle sesame seeds on top and garnish with spring-onion greens. Serve hot with white rice or steamed broccoli or salad of your choice!
