ABOUT Moong dal dahi vadas with roasted peanuts stuffing RECIPE

Daha vaha is a very traditional indian recipe. This dish is loved by all age group. This super tasty dish is made with dal, curd, different Chutney and spice mix. Traditionally 'urad ki dal' is used to make vadas but today I am used yellow moong dal. It gives a very good taste to the vadas. Also I have stuffed the vadas with roasted peanuts which gives a good crunch to the vadas when eaten.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Yellow moong dal socked for 4 hours 200 gms
  2. Kalonji seeds a pinch
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Beaten curd 400 gms
  5. Roasted peanuts chopped 4 table spoon
  6. Roasted jeera powder 3 tea spoon ( use as per taste)
  7. Sugar 1 tea spoon
  8. Black pepper powder 1/2 tea spoon
  9. Black salt a pinch
  10. Chopped coriander handful
  11. Sev as required
  12. Green chutney for sprinkling
  13. Red imli sweet chutney for sprinkling
  14. Some pomegranate pearls for decoration

Instructions

  1. First grind the socked dal .
  2. Add salt, pinch of sugar, kalonji and mix well.
  3. Heat oil in a pan.
  4. Take a part of the paste in a hand, stuff with some roasted chopped peanut and close the vada.
  5. Deep fry it.
  6. Dip the vadas in a previously prepared Luke warm salt water pan.
  7. Make all vadas and soak in salt water.
  8. After 15 minutes press the vadas with both palm to squeeze the water.
  9. Arrange them in a serving plate.
  10. Now beat the curd so that no lumps are there.
  11. Mix roasted jeera powder, black salt, black pepper powder, sugar.
  12. Add water if curd is too thick.
  13. It should be in pouring consistency.
  14. Pour the curd over the vadas.
  15. Sprinkle coriander leaves .
  16. Top with green and red chutney.
  17. Top with sev and pomegranate pearls.
  18. Serve immediately.
