It's very famous south Indian chutney

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 medium chopped onion
  2. 2 medium chopped tomato
  3. 1 tsp urad dal
  4. Red chilli powder to taste
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Water as required for grinding
  7. For tadka
  8. 1 tsp oil
  9. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  10. Few fresh curry leaves

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan add urad dal when it crackles add chopped onions saute for 2- 3 minutes till light brown.
  2. Add chopped tomatoes and leftover masalas and saute for 2-3 minutes till the tomatoes become soft, pulpy and completely cooked.
  3. let it cool down and make a smooth paste for chutney. (when you grind the mixture add water as your required)
  4. pour the chutney in a serving bowl.
  5. Temper the chutney with oil and mustard seeds.
  6. serve onion tomato chutney with idli, dosa and medu vada.
