Ingredients to make Pomfret Masala Fry (Chennai Style)

  • Pomfret Fish - 8 to 10 pieces
  • To grind masala: Black Pepper - 1 Tsp
  • Garlic - 6 Nos
  • Ginger - a small piece
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 Tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder - 2 Tsp
  • Lemon - 1/2 squeezed
  • Thick Tamarind Exract - 2 Tsp
  • Oil to fry
  • Salt - to taste

How to make Pomfret Masala Fry (Chennai Style)

  1. Clean the fish slices and wash well .Keep it aside in a vessel. Now we need to grind the masala before marinating.
  2. Take a mixie jar or blender add all the above ingredients one by one as shown in pic. Grind it into a smooth paste to get a thick masala.
  3. Apply the paste evenly to the fish pieces and allow to marinate for 1/2 an hour. Now heat a tawa or a pan with oil over a medium heat.
  4. When hot ,add the marinated fish and fry till the fish is cooked.
  5. Serve hot with sambar rice, rasam and all types of variety rices, biriyani etc
