ABOUT Oats Methi Muthiya RECIPE

Rich in calcium, phosphorous and a good source of iron and vitamin C, fenugreek / methi leaves provide with a lot if health benefits. Steaming is considered the best way of cooking this herb as all vitamins are retained. Combining it with oats makes a super healthy breakfast or a tea time snack.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Plain oats - 1 cup
  2. Fenugreek /methi leaves - 1.5 cups
  3. Sooji / rawa - 2 tbsp
  4. Curd - 3 tbsp
  5. Green chilies - 1 or 2 finely chopped
  6. Ginger - 1/2 inch finely chopped
  7. Spice powders :
  8. Red chili powder - 1 1/4 tsp
  9. Dhania jeera powder - 2 tsp
  10. Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
  11. Hing /asafoetida- 1/8 tsp
  12. Baking soda - 1/8 tsp
  13. Salt to taste
  14. For the tempering :
  15. Oil-1 tsp
  16. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  17. Seasame seeds - 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Chop methi leaves fine along with the tender stem
  2. In a bowl, mix all the dry ingredients
  3. Now add the chopped methi, green chilies, ginger and curd
  4. Add little water , knead a soft dough.
  5. Boil water in Steamer
  6. Make cylindrical rolls of the dough and place on the steam plate
  7. Steam for 10 minutes. Allow to cool completely. Cut into 1/2 inch pieces
  8. In a sauce pan, heat oil and splutter mustard seeds. Add the sesame seeds and stir for few seconds.
  9. Add muthiya pieces in the tempering and toss lightly to coat. Serve hot
