About Sambali Recipe

A common dessert in Turkey, semolina cake which is similar Revani!

Sambali

Ingredients to make Sambali

  • 2 cup semolina
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 cup Castor sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • For the Syrup
  • 3 cups water
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • mint leaves

How to make Sambali

  1. Preheat oven at 180 degree C and grease a baking dish.
  2. Heat water and sugar in a saucepan until all the sugar dissolves, add lemon juice and remove from heat.
  3. Beat eggs, castor sugar, yogurt and vanilla essence in a bowl.
  4. Add semolina, flour and baking powder, mix well to incorporate the ingredients.
  5. Pour in the batter into the baking dish and bake for 1 hour until it become golden.
  6. Cut into rectangle sized pieces and pour the sugar syrup over,
  7. Place mint leaves on top and serve!
