ABOUT Green Peas Pulao RECIPE

It's a simple Indian pilaf with green peas or matar often made as an important main dish receipe in parties or gatherings to have alongwith raitas or your favourite curries. Goes well with veg or non veg curries.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Pulao Rice - 2 1/2 cups
  2. Green peas - 2 cups (fresh or frozen)
  3. Onion- 2 large
  4. Water - 5 cups (for rice)
  5. Whole Spices :
  6. Whole black pepper - 10
  7. Cardamon - 7
  8. Cloves - 7
  9. Cinnamon sticks - 3
  10. Bay leaf - 3
  11. Star ainse - 2
  12. Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp
  13. Green chilies - 3
  14. Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp
  15. Salt to taste
  16. Ghee - 3 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Wash rice and soak for 15 to 20 minutes. Drain excess water
  2. Heat ghee in a deep saucepan.Splutter cumin seeds and add whole spices.
  3. Add sliced onions then green chilies. Saute till translucent
  4. Add the ginger garlic paste and stir fry for few minutes. Now add the peas and some salt. Mix well
  5. Add water, check for seasoning and bring to boil
  6. Now add the soaked rice and mix well
  7. bring to a boil once again
  8. Simmer on low flame covered for around 20 minutes for plain rice. If using basmasti rice then 10 minutes.
  9. Open and fluff the rice before serving hot with curry or raita.
