ABOUT Keerai Murukku / Palak Chakli RECIPE

chakli is one of the favorite tea time snack . Adding Palak purée gives it a lovely flavour and colour along with the nutrition.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Spinach - 1 bunch
  2. Mint leaves - 1/4 cup
  3. Coriander leaves - 1/2 cups
  4. Green chillies - 3 - 4
  5. Maida - 1 cup
  6. Rice flour - 1/2 cup
  7. Besan - 1/2 cup
  8. Sesame seeds - 1 tbsp
  9. Oil or butter - 2 tbsps
  10. Salt - To taste
  11. Baking powder - 1 pinch
  12. Oil - to fry

Instructions

  1. Wash the greens, cut them and boil adding little salt, pinch of baking powder to retain the green colour. Blend the purée and let it cool.
  2. In a large platter take the three flours, sesame seeds, little salt and 2 tbsps oil. Mix them.
  3. Knead this adding the purée little by little.
  4. Make the dough and set it aside.
  5. Grease the chakli mould and put the dough into it.
  6. Make challis on a greased surface.
  7. Heat the oil in a pan and fry them on medium and low flame turning the sides until crisp.
  8. Remove them on an absorbent paper. Allow them to cool before putting them in an air tight container. Enjoy them with your tea.
