ABOUT Chicken Tikka Masala RECIPE

Chicken tikka masala is more British than Indian, and there's hardly any restaurant in Britain that doesn’t serve this mouth watering classic!

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 kg boneless chicken thighs
  2. 1/2 cup fresh thick curd
  3. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  4. 1 tsp cumin powder
  5. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  6. 1 tsp coriander powder
  7. 1 tbsp vegetable oil/olive oil
  8. 4 cloves garlic diced
  9. 1 small onion sliced
  10. 1/2 tsp of ginger paste
  11. 2 tbsp tomato paste
  12. 2 tbsp garam masala
  13. 1 tomato diced
  14. mint leaves for garnishing
  15. 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. 1. Cut the chicken thighs in medium size pieces in a shallow dish. Add curd, turmeric powder, cumin powder, 1 tsp of chilli and coriander powder.
  2. 2. Marinate the chicken for 6--7 hours in refrigerator so that all flavours are soaked in.
  3. 3. Broil the marinated chicken in oven until its crisp and brown from both sides,alternatively you can grill or pan roast/fry the chicken pieces.
  4. 3. Heat oil in a pan. Saute garlic, ginger paste, onions, tomatoes, tomato puree. Add garam masala,1 tsp chilli powder,1 tsp coriander powder.
  5. 4. Saute until the oil starts separating from mixture. Add heavy cream and simmer for 5 mins until sauce is thickened.
  6. 5. Add the broiled chicken pieces to the sauce. Simmer for another 5-6 mins until chicken is mixed nicely with sauce.
  7. 6. Serve hot. Garnish with mint leaves.
