Spicey Sattu Delight

Ingredients to make Spicey Sattu Delight

  • 3/4 cup Chana Sattu ka Atta
  • 2 glasses cold water
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Salt (Kala Namak)
  • 1 tbsp chopped mint leaves
  • 1/2 tbsp minced green chillies
  • Juice of 1/2 a lemon
  • 1 tsp roasted Cumin Powder/Jeera powder
  • Imli gud khajoor ki chutney 2 tbsp
  • Chopped mint and coriander leaves
  • For the tempering:
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1/4 tsp pf mustard/rai seeds
  • 1/4 tsp of heeng/asafoetida
  • 1/2 tsp of red chiili powder
  • 1/2 tsp of jeera powder
  • Ice cubes as needed

How to make Spicey Sattu Delight

  1. Take the sattu ka atta in a bowl and add 1/2 glass of water. Mix with a whisk till it is fully dissolved and no lumps of the Sattu ka Atta remain. Add lemon juice, salt, black salt, mint, chillies and cumin powder and mix well. Leave for 5-10 minutes to soak in all the flavours.
  2. Take 2 glasses and add ice cubes as required. Pour the drink on top through a strainer. Add the imli gud khajoor chutney for sweet and sour taste. Float some mint leaves at the top to give it a zing.
  3. To prepare the temper. Heat few drops of ghee in a small pan, add the mustard seeds. Let it crackle. Turn off the gas and let it cool down a bit. Add the heeng, red chilli powder and zeera powder and add this to your sattu drink.
  4. Serve it chilled.
