ABOUT Zeera Aaloo RECIPE

Everyone’s favourite spicy and flavourful potato curry

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 large potatoes deskined and cubed
  2. 1 large onion chopped
  3. 1 tbspn heaped cumin seeds/Jeera
  4. Salt to taste
  5. 2 sprigs curry leaves
  6. 2 dry red chillies broken in pieces
  7. Dry spices like turmeric, red chilli, coriander and garam masala
  8. Juice of one lemon
  9. A handful of fresh coriander leaves chopped fine
  10. 2-3 tbspn cooking oil
  11. Water as needed
  12. 1 tbspn ginger garlic paste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a Kadai over medium heat
  2. Add the cumin seeds, onions, curry leaves, dry red chillies, green chillies and sauté till onions are translucent
  3. Add the potatoes, salt to taste, dry spices and sauté for another 2-3 minutes
  4. Add about half a cup of water and cook covered till potatoes are cooked
  5. Add the lemon juice and coriander leaves as mix well
  6. Serve hot with rice/any Indian flat breads
