Shrimps can add a zing of flavour to any food on its own or combined. Cooked in spicy black pepper sauce, this recipe is an excellent combo as an appetiser or with any rice preparation.. Indian, Thai or Chinese

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 300 gms shrimps deshelled and marinated with turmeric powder
  2. 1 large onion chopped fine
  3. 2 sprigs of curry leaves
  4. 1 tbspn butter
  5. 2 tbspn black pepper corns
  6. 2 tbspn oyester sauce
  7. 1 tbspn ginger garlic paste
  8. 2 tbspn soy sauce
  9. 4 chilli red Padi/green chillies finely chopped
  10. Dry spices like 1 tbspn turmeric and red chilli powders
  11. 4 tbspn mustard/sesame oil
  12. Handful of coriander leaves/ spring onion greens chopped

Instructions

  1. Place the marinated shrimps in a bowl of cold water for 10 minutes
  2. Grind the pepper corns coursely
  3. Heat oil in a wok
  4. Add butter to it and let the heat melt the butter completely
  5. Add and curry leaves and sauté till onions turn translucent
  6. Add ginger garlic paste, chillies and sauté for another 2-3 minutes
  7. Add the dry spices and deglaze the wok with a drizzle of water
  8. Next add the sauces, crushed pepper corns and salt and blend well
  9. Toss in the shrimps and roast covered for 10 minutes covered in Low heat
  10. Check after 10 minutes of the shrimps have cooked or cook for another 5 minutes
  11. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves /spring onion greens and serve hot
