ABOUT Basil Pesto RECIPE

A staple in most Italian homes, pesto is a very versatile mix that can be used as a sauce, a marination or even a dip

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup fresh basil leaves
  2. 2 cloves garilc
  3. 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  4. 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  5. 1/2 cup pine nuts
  6. salt

Instructions

  1. 1. In a mortar and pestle, bruise the garlic with the salt.
  2. 2. Add basil to it, a little at a time along with some olive oil until it bruises well.
  3. 3. Add parmesan and pine nuts to the basil mix and keep grinding until you get the right kind of mix.
  4. 4. Adjust the seasoning and top with remaining olive oil. Serve with pasta or use to marinate your choice of meat.
  5. 5. Store in an air-tight container.
