Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. For making of gajar halwa as filling :
  2. Red carrots 1/2 kg
  3. Milk 1 liter
  4. Milk powder 1 tbsp
  5. Sugar 1/2 cup or more or less
  6. Dry fruits chopped handful
  7. Ghee 2 tsp
  8. For making pie :
  9. All purposeFlour/Maida 100 gms
  10. powdered sugar 50 gms or less
  11. 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  12. 1 Teaspoon Ghee/Clarified Butter
  13. A pinch of salt
  14. Water to knead the dough

Instructions

  1. PEEL, WASH, GRATE 500 GMS RED CARROTS
  2. BOIL 1 LITRE MILK IN A NON STICK PAN
  3. ADD THE CARROTS, SIMMER ON MEDIUM HEAT TILL MILK IS ABSORBED
  4. ADD 2 TSP GHEE, 1/2 CUP SUGAR, MIX
  5. MIX & COOK TILL DRY
  6. ADD 1 TBSP MILK POWDER
  7. TAKE OFF HEAT, TOP WITH DRY FRUITS OF YOUR CHOICE
  8. MIX 100 GMS FLOUR, 1 TSP GHEE, 50 GMS POWDERED SUGAR
  9. ADD 1/4 TSP CARDAMOM POWDER, MIX
  10. ADD A PINCH OF SALT & WATER TO KNEAD A DOUGH
  11. COVER & REFRIGERATE FOR 30 MINS
  12. ROLL OUT SMALL PORTIONS OF THE PASTRY DOUGH, CUT INTO 8 RECTANGLES
  13. PLACE SOME HALWA ON 4 PIECES
  14. PLACE THE OTHER RECTANGLES ON TOP, SEAL & CRIMP THE EDGES
  15. PIERCE IN THE CENTRE
  16. PRE HEAT OVEN AT 180 DEGREES FOR 10 MINS, PLACE GREASED HAND PIES ON A BAKING SHEET
  17. BAKE AT 170 DEGREES FOR 10-12 MINS MINUTES TILL BROWN
