Dalma is a traditional dish of orissa.whatever is the occasion dalma is must in odiya kitchen.it is very easy & healthy recipe for eleder aged people even it is good for pregenant women.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Raw banana 3/4 cup
  2. Raw papaya 3/4 cup
  3. Aloo 1 cup
  4. Brinjal 3/4 cup
  5. Arbi 3/4 cup
  6. Pumpkin 1 cup
  7. Tamato 1 medium size
  8. Crushed ginger 1 inch
  9. Bay leaf 2
  10. Deshi ghee 1 tablespoon
  11. Salt to taste
  12. Red gram dal 1/2 cup
  13. Bengal gram dal 5 tablespoon
  14. Monga dal 4 tablespoon
  15. Grated coconut 4 tablespoon
  16. Dry red chili-2
  17. Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
  18. Cumin seed 5 teaspoon
  19. Asafeotida 1 pinch

Instructions

  1. Take 3 teaspoon cumin seeds & 2 red chili & roast it in a dry pan.grind it into fine powder.
  2. In a pan dry roast the yellow moong dal by stirring continuously.
  3. Peel & chop all veggies in big cubes.then soak the dals for at least 25 minutes.
  4. Transfer all vegetables with soaked dal to pressure cooker along with 1 bay leaf , crushed ginger, chopped tomato , turmeric powder & salt 3 cups of water close the lid & keep the flame high.
  5. Let one whistle come then switch off the flame.
  6. Heat ghee in pan add cumin seed , asafeotida,bay leaf.let it pop for few seconds.
  7. Add the the tempting to the boiled dalma.then add grated coconut , roasted cumin & chili powder.
  8. Give a final mix let it boil for 2 minutes more.
