ABOUT Balushahi RECIPE

Its a north indian sweet. Crispy dumplings dunked in sugar syrup.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Maida- 250 gm
  2. Ghee -500 gm
  3. Curd -2 tsp
  4. Baking soda -1/4 tsp
  5. Suger -300 gm
  6. Cardamom powder -1 tsp
  7. Some chopped almond and pistachios

Instructions

  1. Sieve the maida and add 100 gm ghee, curd and baking soda. Knead the flour with luke warm water. Cover the dough with muslin cloth for 25 minutes.
  2. Take a pan and add 400 ml. Water into it. Add sugar. Boil it and make a one thread consistency of syrup. Add cardamom powder into it.
  3. Take maida dough and make small balls. Press it to flatten in the middle
  4. Heat the ghee in deep frying pan and fry all the prepared balushahi. Keep the flame low. Fry the balushahi till it turns golden brown in color. Take out the balushahi from ghee and let it cool down.
  5. Dip the balushahi into the prepared sugar syrup for 5-10 minutes. After 10 minutes take out the balushahi and put in a plate to dry. Decorate with chopped nuts. Keep it in air tight container.
