Minced Mutton Gravy

Ingredients to make Minced Mutton Gravy

  • Minced meat- 1/2 kg
  • tomato- 3, big sized
  • Ground spices- 1 tsp (cinnamon, javithri, cardamom and cloves)
  • ginger-Garlic paste- 1 tsp
  • red chilli powder- 1 tbsp
  • Coriender powder- 1/2 tsp
  • turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  • ghee/ Oil- 2 tbsp
  • cumin powder- 1/4 tsp
  • mustard seeds- 1 tsp
  • curry leaves- 1 strip
  • salt to taste
  • coconut milk- 1/2 cup ( optional)

How to make Minced Mutton Gravy

  1. Blanch the tomatoes, then remove their skin and grind into a fine puree. In a pressure cooker, heat ghee, then add mustard seeds to splutter, then the curry leaves, chopped onion. Saute it well then add in the ginger-garlic paste and cook it well.
  2. Once the raw smell disappears, add the cleaned minced mutton and saute till it's color changes. Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, spice powder, turmeric powder, toss it well. Next, add in the tomato puree and saute it well.
  3. Pour in the coconut milk if needed or water and salt as per taste. Close the lid and cook in a pressure cooker till 4 whistles blow.
  4. Once its cooked and the steam releases on its own, transfer this dish into a bowl and serve it warm with a garnish of coriander leaves.

My Tip:

If you add ghee it will tenderize the meat and enhance it's flavour. You can reduce the red chilli powder amount if you do not want the dish to be too spicy.
