ABOUT Kheema Matar... RECIPE

A simple dish made with green peas. It is best enjoyed with khichdi. It tastes yummy. Aptly suited for the elderly as well as during pregnancy and after childbirth too. Flavourful and aromatic dish that goes well with both khichdi and plain boiled rice with yummy khatti daal and even rotis, phulkas and pooris.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Lamb mince 400 gm
  2. Fresh Green Peas 200 gm
  3. Salt 1 tsp
  4. Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  5. Onions thinly sliced 2
  6. Curry powder 1 tsp
  7. Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  8. Green chillies chopped 3
  9. Crushed coriander seeds 1 tbsp
  10. Oil 3 tbsp
  11. Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  12. Coriander leaves chopped 4 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Wash and keep the lamb mince in a strainer basket to drain the water well.
  2. In a cooking pot, heat oil and add the ginger garlic paste first.
  3. Shallow fry it for a minute and then add the crushed coriander, chillies and the onions.
  4. Saute them until translucent.
  5. Add the green peas now.
  6. Followed by the lamb mince along with the rest of the spices and the salt too.
  7. Cover and cook on low flame for 15 to 18 minutes.
  8. Open the lid after the stipulated time and increase the flame to high.
  9. Saute until the oil starts leaving the pan.
  10. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with chopped greens.
  11. Serve hot as a delicious side dish to many an important family meals.
