This protein rich moong and urad dal made up with kasuri methi is one of my favourite dish which is healthy as well as tasty also.The kasuri methi gives an amazing taste to the dish and also possesses antioxidant properties which makes it healthy also.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Moong dal 1/2 cup
  2. Urad dal 1/2 cup
  3. Kasuri methi(dry fenugreek leaves) 1 tbsp
  4. Onion 1(medium) chopped
  5. Tomato 1(medium) chopped
  6. Green chilly 2-3
  7. Red chilly powder 1 tspn
  8. Turmeric powder 1/4 tspn
  9. Coriander powder 2 tspn
  10. Garam masala powder 1/2 tspn(optional)
  11. Ginger garlic paste 3 tspn
  12. Hing 1/4 tspn
  13. salt as per taste
  14. oil 2 tbsp
  15. Water 2+1/2 cups

Instructions

  1. Take oil in a deep bottom pan,add hing and onion and fry till the onion become golden brown.
  2. Add kasuri methi and fry for few seconds.
  3. Add ginger garlic paste and fry till it become slight golden or till the oil separates.
  4. Add turmeric powder,Coriander powder,red chilly powder,garam masala powder and salt.
  5. Fry the masala till the oil gets seperated from the masala.
  6. Now add tomatoes and green chillies into the masala.
  7. Cover the lid and let the tomatoes become soft and pulpy.
  8. Add the washed dal and water into the pan and bring it to a boil.
  9. Cover the pan with the lid and let the dal get cooked on low flame till it become soft and get cooked completely.
  10. The dal is ready to serve.

It goes well with plain rice.
