Chilly Chicken

Ingredients to make Chilly Chicken

  • First marination is directly
  • in the procedure
  • Second marination:
  • Chicken boneless – 300gms
  • Soya sauce – 2 ½ TBSP
  • Green chilly sauce – 2 ½ TBSP
  • Salt – to taste
  • White pepper powder – 1 TBSP
  • Orange red color – a pinch or two
  • All purpose flour – 3 TBSP
  • Corn flour – 3 TBSP
  • Egg – 1 large
  • Water – very little
  • Oil – to deep fry
  • Sauce:
  • Sesame Oil – 3 TBSP
  • Green chillies – 4 to 5 sliced
  • Soya sauce – 2 ½ TBSP
  • Green chilli sauce – 2 ½ TBSP
  • Red chilli sauce – 2 ½ TBSP
  • Tomato ketchup – 2 ½ TBSP
  • Vinegar – 1 ½ tsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • MSG or Ajinomoto – 1/2 tsp
  • (Optional, I didn’t use in the recipe)
  • 1/2 cup cubed Tri color Bell Peppers
  • Onion – 1 medium sized cubed
  • Spring onion – 2 sprigs chopped
  • Garlic Chinese – 5 pods
  • Indian Garlic - 1 bulb
  • White pepper – 1 Tsp
  • Corn starch – 2 tbsp mixed with lil’ water
  • Sugar – 3/4 tsp
  • Water – 1/2 cup
  • Orange red color – a pinch or two

How to make Chilly Chicken

  1. First marination:
  2. Clean and wash boneless chicken or if chicken breasts are available cut them into small bite size pieces.
  3. Add salt – 1 tsp, vinegar – till chicken pieces are immersed and leave in this for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour .
  4. Second marination:
  5. The first marination will make the chicken very tender. Now wash the chicken properly with water and drain completely.
  6. Now add all the ingredients under second marination except oil and deep fry the chicken on medium flame. Drain onto a kitchen towel. Keep aside.
  7. Sauce:
  8. Take a pan, on high flame add oil and in this saute finely chopped garlic for few seconds followed by green chilies sliced.
  9. Now add chopped white part of spring onion, sauté for a minute. Add all the cubed veggies, onions and sauté well for 2 minutes.
  10. Now add soya sauce, green chilli sauce, red chilli sauce, tomato ketchup, sugar, white pepper, orange red color and sauté well.
  11. And then add 1/2 cup water, give a stir and then add chicken, stir well then add corn starch mixed with water – 2 to 3 TBSP and sauté well. Add green part of spring onion and tossed sesame seeds. Serve hot.
