Olive and Paneer Poppers are one of the most delectable and scrumptious appetizer for your Christmas party.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 2 large boiled potatoes
  2. 100 grams grated paneer
  3. 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
  4. 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder
  5. 1/4 tsp Chaat masala powder
  6. 2 tbsp Fresh Coriander, fine chopped
  7. 15 Pitted Green Olives
  8. Salt to taste
  9. 1/2 cup cornflour
  10. 6 tbsp All purpose flour
  11. 1/2 cup milk or water
  12. 1 cup bread crumbs
  13. Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Take boiled potatoes in a mixing bowl and mash them with a fork or with your hands nicely.
  2. Add grated paneer, red chili powder, garam masala powder, chaat masala or amchur (whichever available), salt to taste and fresh chopped coriander.
  3. Mix well to incorporate everything well and you get a smooth soft dough.
  4. Collect the pitted green olives and wash them nicely.
  5. Pinch a small portion from the dough and flatten it on your palm to make a small disk.
  6. Place one green olive in the center and fold the potato paneer disk from all sides to cover the olive. Shape it into a sphere and keep aside. Following the same method, make more and collect on a plate.
  7. Take a small bowl and add all purpose flour and milk, whisk to make a smooth flowing thin batter.
  8. Heat oil in a wok for deep frying. And while the oil is heating take one popper, roll it over cornflour to coat from all sides.
  9. Dip the dusted popper in the flour mix and again roll it over the bread crumbs such that it coats well from all sides.
  10. Gently drop the popper in hot oil and fry till golden in color.
  11. Similarly fry rest of the prepared poppers and collect them all on a kitchen napkin to soak excess oil.
  12. Serve hot with any of your favorite dip or simple tomato ketchup or sauce.
