Vegan Black Bean Paratha

Ingredients to make Vegan Black Bean Paratha

  • 3 cups Wheat flour
  • All purpose flour (for dusting)
  • Salt as required
  • For the Black bean Masala:
  • 1 cup Black beans (soaked and cooked)
  • 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala powder
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
  • Salt as required
  • Oil for frying

How to make Vegan Black Bean Paratha

  1. Take the wheat flour and salt in a large bowl, gradually pour in the water and knead everything to get a soft and smooth dough. Keep aside.
  2. Meanwhile grind the cooked black beans to form a coarse paste.
  3. Heat enough oil and splutter the cumin seeds, then add the grounded black bean paste, give it a stir and immediately add the red chilli powder, garam masala powder and salt. Cook everything on simmer for a few minutes, then turn off the stove.
  4. Make 5-6 balls from the paratha dough. Dust the balls with the all purpose flour and flatten them with rolling pins.
  5. Place a small ball of black bean masala over the flattened dough and cover the masala with the dough, now roll them in your palms again as a ball.
  6. Roll them as parathas and cook this parathas in a hot pan drizzled with enough oil until they get cooked properly.
  7. Serve hot with any side dish or pickles and curd.
