This is the authentic recipe of gulab jamuns made from mawa. These mawa gulab jamuns melt in your mouth tingling your tastebuds with divine awesomeness.

  1. Mawa (khoya) one cup
  2. All purpose Flour one cup
  3. Sugar one cup
  4. Cardamom powder
  5. Saffron strands
  6. Baking powder 1/8 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. FIRST WE HAVE TO PREPARE SUGAR SYRUP FOR GULAB JAMUNS, FOR THAT TAKE ONE CUP OF SUGAR IN A PAN
  2. ADD TWO CUPS OF WATER TO IT
  3. ADD HALF TEASPOON OF CARDAMOM POWDER
  4. SOME STRANDS OF SAFFRON THREADS
  5. MIX EVERYTHING AND PUT ON MEDIUM FLAME
  6. LET SUGAR SYRUP BOIL FOR 10 MINUTES. KEEP ASIDE, WE NEED IT WARM (NOT HOT) TO IMMERSE GULAB JAMUNS
  7. FOR GULAB JAMUN PREPARATION - TAKE ONE CUP OF KHOYA (MAWA)
  8. ADD ONE CUP OF ALL PURPOSE FLOUR TO IT
  9. ADD 1/8 TH TEASPOON OF BAKING SODA
  10. START ADDING ROOM TEMPERATURE MILK TO THE KHOYA MIXTURE TO FORM DOUGH. MIX MILK ONE SPOON AT A TIME
  11. ADD MILK VERY CAREFULLY BY SPOONS (ONE SPOON AT A TIME) AND KNEAD INTO A SMOOTH DOUGH
  12. THE DOUGH IS READY
  13. DIVIDE DOUGH INTO EQUAL PARTS & START MAKING BALLS FROM IT. BALLS SHOULD BE WITHOUT ANY CRACKS.
  14. MAKE ALL GULAB JAMUN BALLS FROM THE DOUGH
  15. HEAT OIL IN A WOK FOR DEEP FRYING THE BALLS AND START ADDING THEM TO THE OIL AT LOW FLAME.
  16. DO NOT OVERLOAD THE WOK AS THE BALLS WILL INCREASE IN SIZE WHILE FRYING
  17. GULAB JAMUNS ARE NICELY BROWN TAKE THEM OUT IN A PLATE. DO NOT DIRECTLY ADD TO THE SUGAR SYRUP
  18. AFTER 2 MINUTES ADD THEM TO THE WARM SUGAR SYRUP
  19. LET THEM SOAK IN THE SUGAR SYRUP FOR ONE HOUR. GULAB JAMUNS WILL DOUBLE IN SIZE.
  20. GARNISH WITH CHOPPED CASHEW NUTS (OPTIONAL)
  21. MELT IN MOUTH YUMMY MAWA GULAB JAMUNS ARE READY TO TINGLE YOUR TASTE BUDS.
