Dal Dhokli

Ingredients to make Dal Dhokli

  • 1/4 cup Arhar (toor) dal
  • 1/4 teaspoon ajwain
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon gram flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablepoon oil
  • 2 tomatoes (chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black mustard seeds
  • 1 green chilli (chopped)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander seed powder
  • A pinch of hing
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/4 cup Whole wheat flour
  • salt to taste

How to make Dal Dhokli

  1. Wash and soak the Arhar dal in water for 10 minutes. Pressure cook it until 1 whistle, simmer and then turn off the flame.
  2. Knead together whole wheat flour, besan, a pinch of turmeric powder, a pinch of red chilli powder, 1 tablespoon oil, 1/4 teaspoon salt and ajwain with water. Roll it and cut small rectangles of it.
  3. In a pan, heat some oil and crackle mustard seeds. Add cumin seeds, coriander powder, garam masala, tomatoes, Green chillies, and red chilli powder. Cook it for 2 minutes.
  4. Heat the dal and add this mixture into it. Also add the cut dhoklis. Cook until the dhoklis turn a little hard and hold their shape. Add lemon juice. Serve with coriander leaves garnished on top.
