Kaapa

Ingredients to make Kaapa

  • 1 bunch Fresh Spinach
  • 2 teaspoons whole wheat flour (atta)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin (Jeera)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon jamboo
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Salt to taste

How to make Kaapa

  1. Wash and chop the spinach finely.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a wok. Add cumin. When it splutters, add turmeric and then add spinach.
  3. Add water. Cover and cook till spinach is done. Mash spinach with a ladle. Continue to do so till it gets a semi pureed texture.
  4. Add whole wheat flour and stir well so that there are no lumps. Add salt. Cook till kaapa bubbles and thickens.
  5. Heat remaining oil, add jamboo and add it to kaapa. Stir and serve hot with chapattis.
My Tip: Add 1/2 cup milk in place of water for a creamier kaapa. Adjust consistency according to your desire. You may temper with kasoori methi if you do not have jamboo.
