ABOUT Aaloo Masala.. RECIPE

A super yum masala that goes very well with dosas,pooris and chapatis. This one is simple and easy too. It tastes awesome with pooris also. One of the most liked side dishes, it therefore is a permanent feature at many a breakfast tables.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Potatoes boiled abd cubed 4
  2. Onion sliced 2
  3. oil 2 tbsp
  4. Dry red chillies 3
  5. Black Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  6. Asafoetida 1/8th tsp
  7. Ginger shredded 1 tbsp
  8. Bengal gram or chana daal 1 tbsp
  9. curry leaves 10
  10. Turmeric 1 tsp
  11. Red chilli flakes 1 tbsp
  12. OR
  13. Green chillies finely chopped 2 tbsp
  14. Garam masala 1 tsp
  15. Salt 1 tsp
  16. Coriander leaves finely chopped 1/4th cup

Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes using a little salt.
  2. Peel and dice them into small cubes.
  3. To a pan, heat oil and add asafoetida and dry red chillies.
  4. Now add curry leaves and shredded ginger.
  5. Now add black mustard seeds.
  6. After they crackle, add bengal gram or chana daal.
  7. Keep the flame low.
  8. Now add sliced onions and saute until translucent.
  9. Next add the green chillies and the potato cubes.
  10. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes on low flame only.
  11. After 10 minutes, sprinkle garam masala and garnish with coriander leaves.
  12. Serve hot alongside dosas, appam, masala dosas.
  13. They can be served alongside pooris too.
