ABOUT Spongy Idlis RECIPE

Idli is one of the favorite and most traditional breakfast in south .These idlis are really soft and you can make them in your breakfast as it will satisfy your hunger and will keep you healthy and Non-Fatty too.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Idli Rice – 2 cups
  2. Raw Rice – 1 cup
  3. Whole urad dal – 1 cup
  4. Methi seeds – 1tsp
  5. Oil – few drops for greasing idli moulds
  6. Salt – as per taste

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice & the Urad dal 2-3 times & soak them separately for atleast 4-5 hours.
  2. You can Keep it overnight also.
  3. Ground the mixture in a mixer jar by adding little water.
  4. The consistency of the batter should not be very thick neither liquid.
  5. Keep this batter for fermenting atleast 8 hours plus.
  6. After 8 hours your batter will rise up.
  7. After the batter has risen well, mix it well with a clean spoon, add salt & required water to get the idli consistency.
  8. The batter should be like pakora batter.
  9. Grease idli moulds with oil & pour the batter.
  10. The idlis will get fluffy,so avoid the moulds to get filled up to the end,let the mould should be little empty from the top.
  11. Steam idlis for atleast 10-15 minutes on medium flame.
  12. Check your idlis after 15 minutes.
  13. Let it cool for around 2 to 3 minutes and de mould the idlis by a clean spoon or knife.
  14. Enjoy your hot idlis with sambhar or gun powder chutney.
