Pompfret Fish Curry

Ingredients to make Pompfret Fish Curry

  • 2 medium-large Pomfret/Surmai fish, sliced
  • 1/2 Coconut, grated
  • 4 medium onions, finely chopped
  • 6 boiled tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp Coriander seeds
  • 2 tsp Red chili powder
  • 8-10 Garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 8-10 Kokum slices
  • Water as per need
  • Oil as per need
  • Salt as per need

How to make Pompfret Fish Curry

  1. Grind grated coconut, onions, boiled tomatoes, coriander seeds, red chili powder and garlic cloves together and make a fine paste. Keep aside.
  2. Take some oil in a pan, heat well. Add turmeric powder, stir for 2 seconds.
  3. Add paste immediately to it, stir fry for 10 mins. Add 1 cup of water as per need. Bring to boil.
  4. Add kokum and salt as per need once boiling point of the gravy is reached. Reduce flame.
  5. Add the fish pieces and reduce flame to low, let it cook on low flame for 15 minutes.
  6. Turn off the gas and let it stay for another 5 minutes. The fish slices will absorb all the flavors of the curry.
My Tip: Add a thick paste of 2 red kashmiri chilli for that vibrant color, reduce or skip the red chili powder accordingly.
