Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Parboiled rice (Idli Rice) 2 cups
  2. Urad dal 1 cup
  3. Green and Red chillies 3 each
  4. Fresh Shredded Coconut 1 cup
  5. Mustard, urad dal and chana dal for seasoning
  6. Curry leaves few
  7. Coconut Oil 3 tb spoons
  8. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Powder rice and urad dal separately in a blender to coarse stuff like semolina texture.
  2. Mix them and keep aside.
  3. Grind the chillies together to paste adding some water and have aside.
  4. Heat a pan with oil and do the seasoning with mustard, chana dal, urad dal and curry leaves. Add some hing too.
  5. Pour 5 cups of water, add required salt and add the coconut too.
  6. Once it stars boiling add the rice dal powder and stir well to upma consistency.
  7. Allow to cool down and make in to small dumplings.
  8. Steam in idli pan for 20 mins and serve hot.
