Choco Red Velvet Cake

Ingredients to make Choco Red Velvet Cake

  • Unsaltedbutter-2 tablespoons (to grease the cake pan)
  • Cake flour-1.5 cup(not self raising)
  • Cocoa powder- 6 tablespoons
  • Granuled Sugar-1 cup
  • Large eggs-2 (Vegetarian people can use 3 tbsp Yogurt mixed with 3 /4 cup water)
  • Red foodcolouring-few drops
  • Vanilla essence- 1 teaspoon
  • Milk -3/4 cup(room tempreture)
  • Baking Soda -1/2 teaspoon
  • Baking powder-1.5 teaspoon
  • Ingredients for Frosting
  • Butter-12 tablespoons
  • Icing sugar-4 cups
  • Vanilla essence-1 teaspoon
  • Melted chocolate-1/2 cup
  • Red food colur -2 drops

How to make Choco Red Velvet Cake

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F or 180 degree C.
  2. Grease butter in a 9inch cake pan.
  3. Sprinkle with flour and tap out the excess; set aside.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk cake flour, baking powder and baking soda, mix and set aside.
  5. Take a another bowl, combine sugar, and oil, beat until well combined.
  6. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  7. Add vanilla and milk and beat until well combined. Add flour mixture slowly into the liquid mixture.
  8. Evenly divide batter between two portion, mix Cocoa powder with one portion and red food colur with another portion.
  9. First pour the chocolate batter into the pan, afterthat pour red colour batter on the top of the Chocolate Batter. Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  10. Remove from oven and let cool for 30 minutes.
  11. Method for Frosting-
  12. When the cake is completely cool, start decorate the cake.
  13. Beat butter until smooth.
  14. Add icing sugar and vanilla essence, beat until light and fluffy.
  15. Now divide the butter frosting into 1/4 portion and 3/4 portion.
  16. Let the 3/4th portion of white frosting remain unchanged.
  17. Now divide the 1/4 th portion into two parts eually, mix one part with melted chocolate and mix red food colour into another part.
  18. Spread the white butter frosting on the cake, spread it evenly with butter knife. Create a smoother layer of icing by dipping the knife into warm water.
  19. Shaking off the excess drops and using it smooth out the icing.
  20. Put the cake in the fridge to give the icing to completely set. After 20 minutes take out from fridge and spread chocolate icing with the same process.
  21. Again put the cake in the fridge for 20 Minutes. Take out from fridge and spread the red food colur frosting then decorate with cherries and serve your loved one.

My Tip:

I started frosting after minimum 30 minutes,if possible start your frosting after 1 hour also.
